He is survived by his wife, Kathleen King son, Jerry King & wife Beverly Luce granddaughter, Caitlin King brother, Alan King sister, Joanne & husband Bill Brotten and by a bounty of other family, in-laws, nieces and nephews. His missionary spirit led him to support Gideons International and personally visit with the children of Vivakid. He engaged in the community, the local VFW, and participated in a variety of service groups. He was a charter member of Grace Bible Church participating in many leadership roles, deacon council, small groups, and Men's group. He decided to retire for the second time in 1998.Īrt was always devoted to his family, friends and faith. He managed the military’s largest airplane of the time, the C-5 Galaxy. After a few aircraft mechanic teaching jobs, he rejoined the Air Force life as a Civil Servant at Kelly AFB. Yet, the Air Force never really left him. He retired from the U.S Air Force in 1977.

During that time, he received a Bachelor degree from Chicago University, and later a Master’s degree from Southwest Texas State. He served as a Senior Crew Chief on multiple aircraft and weapon systems including the B-26, B-52, B-57, KC-135, F-89, T-33, F-100, F-101, F-104, F-4, A-37, AU-23, AU-24, C-5, C-17 and a few experimental.

Art was a decorated Vietnam War veteran who was awarded numerous medals and commendations through his 23 years of service. They spent the next 63 years together traveling the world sharing addresses from Alaska to Florida, Montana to Texas and overseas from Newfoundland, Holland and Thailand. Art and Kathy were married on June 9, 1956. Shortly after basic training, he was stationed to Blytheville AFB, Arkansas where he met his beloved wife, Kathleen Kent. That same year he joined our United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic.

He graduated with Honors from Olympia High in 1954. During Highschool he bought, refurbished, and re-sold 17 old cars, worked for the Olympia Daily News, managed a local drug store, and still made time for varsity cheerleading.
